Alpine Lake Sunrise Hike & Backcountry Coffee (Beta - Not actual listing)
Difficulty: Moderate. Some activity involved — a basic fitness level helps.
Beta - Not actual listing. A headlamp start, an alpine lake at first light, and the best cup of coffee you’ll ever drink — because of where you’re drinking it.
About this experience
We start hiking in the dark, which sounds unhinged until you’re standing at an alpine lake watching the peaks catch fire while everyone else is still asleep. Six miles round trip, 1,400 feet of gain, paced for conversation rather than suffering. At the lake I unpack the good stuff: a hand grinder, fresh beans, and a pour-over setup. We drink summit coffee while the light show happens, then loop back through wildflower meadows (July–August) or golden aspens (September) depending on when you come. I carry the ten essentials, a first-aid kit, and enough trail snacks to survive a small siege. You bring layers, broken-in shoes, and a 2-liter water capacity. Moderate fitness required — if you can climb ten flights of stairs, you can do this.
